IN CHARACTER INFORMATION
Name: Rainbow Dash
Canon: My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic
OU/AU/OC: OU
Canon Point: Post Season 4 Finale 'Twilight's Kingdom' & Equestria Girls: Rainbow Rocks
History: Here!
Personality: Rainbow Dash is very confident in her abilities as a Pegasus flyer, which others have seen as laziness; the reason behind that is she can often be found perched on a cloud, sleeping or putting off her work. When tested on her abilities, Rainbow takes care of her job in 'ten seconds flat.' (Rainbow Dash's job in Ponyville is to clean up the clouds when they gather, especially when it's needed to be sunny and to bring in the rain; during Winter Wrap-Up, she's head pony for the Pegasi, who's job is to bring back the Southern birds to help bring in Spring.) Despite Rainbow Dash's apparent laziness, she is a hard-working, contributing pony.

She's also well known as a prankster, having pulled pranks on other ponies while insisting that it's all in good fun, and during a visit from Princess Celestia she tries to make her royal guards laugh. (She finally convinces the Princess' pet phoenix to help out, which works successfully as they do laugh.) Rainbow also does this to different ponies on Nightmare Night while dressed as a Shadowbolt. She does get pranked herself at the end by Princess Luna.

Rainbow doesn't hide her annoyance at anypony's behavior. She can be short-tempered on occasion when issues are dragged out, which has been seen in confrontations with her friend/rival Applejack and other situations, like against Discord in the Season 2 premiere. She's also blunt and rude, will laugh at others' misfortune at times and she won't apologize for her actions unless prompted. Rainbow Dash has matured and even though she's still short-tempered and blunt she now shows a great amount of patience and concern for her friends and others. She'll always be the first one to jump into action and help out. While she deems being awesome, cool and radical are excellent traits to have, despite the fact those words are all similar, Rainbow Dash has proved on a couple of occasions that loyalty defines her best.

She's shown that though she wants to be the best she won't do so at the expense of her fellow ponies' lives. She'll go out of her way to help younger ponies achieve dreams she herself didn't get to when she was a filly, and she has an uncanny ability to sound like wild animals. Rainbow will tell scary stories when the opportunity presents itself, such as a camping trip, and would deny it if asked but when she heard those same stories as a filly, she was scared too. (She got over it when she realized that if there were such scary things out there -like a headless pony- she could take it on.) She's not a completely good judge of character, as she stated she believed Spike would give up a task after the first three minutes but was left dumbfounded when he actually completed said task. (This came back to bite her in the flank when she had to knock down an entirely large pile of rocks. She also believed that Fluttershy was still somewhat gullible as she seemed to keep giving Discord the benefit of the doubt while Rainbow and the others didn't trust him at all; in reality, Fluttershy didn't trust him but was counting on him wanting to remain friends with her.)

During the Season 4 premiere, she agreed with Applejack and the others that it might be best if Twilight returned to Ponyville while they went to find the Tree of Harmony. This was a bad decision to make, as the girls soon realized that they couldn't handle the task without Twilight as she was the only one who could've figured out the proper answer. Recently, she's been pitted against Applejack -once again- to prove who's the most daring pony by staying in the Princesses' old castle near the Everfree forest without being scared -both ended up tying, and both were quite scared- as well as actually getting to meet the author of the 'Daring Do' books, A.K. Yearling -who was in reality, Daring Do herself! She unintentionally put Daring's awesomeness on a pedestal, and hindered more than helped. She was about to give up when the others helped her to see that she had her own brand of awesomeness to showcase when Daring was in a tight spot. She showed Daring that you didn't always have to work alone to get the job done, since she had her friends to help out! (Rainbow was rewarded with getting the next Daring Do book in the series a week before anypony else!) She even helped the Cutie Mark Crusaders out when she was their coach for the Equestria Games, reminding them that you never abandoned a friend in need. She reminded Scootaloo that she just had to be herself and not be Rainbow Dash; it didn't matter if she could fly or not, she has her own strengths.

During her own attempt to qualify for the Equestria Games, along with teammates Fluttershy and Bulk Biceps, Rainbow was tempted to join the Wonderbolts team after Soarin' got hurt while getting distracted and the offer was put on the table by Spitfire and Fleetfoot. At first it was just to train with them so she agreed and managed to pull off training with both teams -until Twilight figured her out- but then, when said offer was asked Rainbow asked Twilight what she should do; Twilight said it was something she had to figure out on her own. She tried to get out of making the choice by 'not' making it -saying she was hurt too badly and may never fly again- which wasn't really a choice. After talking with Soarin, she realized she was wrong to consider it to begin with and she decided to stick with Ponyville. Rainbow even called out the Wonderbolts on lying just so they could get a better flyer, which impressed Spitfire for the 2nd time. Rainbow receives a Wonderbolts medallion from Spitfire, which shimmers with a rainbow-like color.

When her birthday came around, which was also the anniversary of the very first day she arrived in Ponyville, which convinced Rarity to dub it her 'Birthiversary,' Pinkie had promised Rainbow a super-party spectacular event, but Cheese Sandwich came into town and literally swept everypony away. Rainbow realized she'd gotten caught up in the hoopla and apologized to her friend, saying that Cheese was a special guest party pony but Pinkie was Ponyville's permanent party pony. She wanted both ponies to give her a super-fantastic party to remember, and it definitely was! Along with a few other Pegasi, Rainbow Dash was selected to help get the Breezies back home but a few hiccups delayed them and they nearly missed their window back. (During this adventure, Rainbow experienced what it was like to be a Breezie and wished she could be a Gryffon or a dragon.)

When the Mane Six went back to Rainbow Falls for the Rainbow Falls Traders' Exchange, Rainbow hoped to acquire a first-edition copy of Daring Do and the Quest for the Sapphire Statue and for the majority of the episode both Rainbow and Fluttershy went around the complex in hopes of getting her book. During the search, and especially afterward as she stated to Twilight, she did want the book more than anything but nothing is worth more to her than a friend. Rainbow didn't get the first-edition book she wanted, but she did get Twilight's old paperback copy which she cherished even more.

A few episodes later, Rainbow had to use unorthodox methods to try and prepare for the Wonderbolts Reserves exam which would showcase the history of the Wonderbolts: from trying to listen to her 'tutor' Twilight, Fluttershy's play starring the Mane 6's pets, Pinkie's style of teaching Rainbow their history through rap and Rarity's style -through historical fashions, Rainbow's left flabbergasted. (Applejack has no advice, but believes that one can learn through personal experience.) However, Rainbow's way of studying turns out to be the best way: she can multitask! While paying attention to Twilight, she also monitors the skies and ground of Ponyville and through that she's able to recall with accuracy the history of the Wonderbolts. Rainbow Dash ends up getting a perfect score of 100% on her test.

When the Equestria Games finally come around, Rainbow races against Spitfire in the aerial relay and takes second place. Overall, Ponyville wins the medal count for the Games by a single medal -37 to Cloudsdale's 36- which cheered Rainbow up even though she was pleased at their placing. During the Season finale, Rainbow Dash uses her medallion which turns into a key that's needed to unlock the chest. Later, Rainbow and the others were instructed by Twilight to keep all the ponies in Ponyville indoors during Tirek's reign of tyranny. Unfortunately, they ran into Discord -who had betrayed Equestria when promised to share in the glory with Tirek- and the girls' abilities are drained. Twilight and the girls end up with all 6 keys and the chest opens that releases a rainbow-colored blast of power that showers the Mane Six in light. They're all given rainbow-colored coats, manes and tails. They defeat Tirek and restore magic all across Equestria. When Twilight's kingdom of Friendship is established as well as her castle, seven thrones are set up in the throne room: one for Twilight and one for each of her friends, except Discord. (He must earn his.)

Rainbow's shown briefly in Equestria Girls: Rainbow Rocks where she and the other ponies are busy in Twilight's castle when they discover the situation the Humane 6 are dealing with concerning the Sirens, and Twilight and Spike go back to help after constructing a portal to slip between worlds. Rainbow and the others want to go too, but Twilight doubts it'll be a good idea to have 2 of them running around. During Rainbow's time in this 'different' Equestria, she's worked on building relationships with other ponies and people who were turned into ponies; her relationship with Derpy Hooves, Ponyville's mailmare is progressing steadily.

Strengths: Rainbow Dash is not the kind of pony to sit back and let things happen to her friends. She's usually the first to volunteer and jump into action. She's learned how to show grace and humility when it comes to being a hero, and not rub it in other pony's faces. (Hilariously, she even pulls her cap and whistle out of nowhere -hammerspace- in Season 4's Flight to the Finish!) She's not usually collected or calm, but Rainbow's more loud and energetic than most of her friends; Pinkie's an exception.

She deems to be the best flyer in Equestria. Rainbow does want to prove herself to be the absolute best and the most daring pony, and to one day be a member of the Wonderbolts. If she does something, it has a purpose of some sort behind it -even if that means daring a friend to build her a rock pile to knock down; then again, she didn't actually think she would have to knock it down. Rainbow's recently shown that yes, she loves to win but her loyalty and devotion to her friends always comes first. (Which is why until recently, she had the Element of Loyalty.) If she has to choose between winning and her friends, she'll always choose her friends. As shown in Testing, Testing, 1, 2, 3, Rainbow has a rare talent of knowing how to multitask, as a Pegasus she must keep an eye on everything in Ponyville from the skies to the ground. She can remember things that take place below her even as she's taking care of her business in the sky. This helps her regarding her Wonderbolts Reserves exam, which she passes.

Weaknesses: She's quite hardheaded, makes rash decisions at times and is outspoken. While it's good to get excited about things, there are times when Rainbow can get a little too excited and nearly go overboard; she does go overboard quite a number of times over the course of the series. A few key moments are in Season 2's May the Best Pet Win! when she tries to outshine her potential pets and gets her wing caught beneath a rock after an avalanche, the next episode immediately after, The Mysterious Mare Do Well when she is jealous over the popularity of another pony and tries to look for trouble so she can be a hero and save the day; she even caused the dam she had tried to keep from breaking to break which put her in trouble! Her pridefulness and boasting was also a key factor, as she even quips that 'something's wrong with the baby! She's not saying how awesome I am!'

Rainbow's also very bad at improv acting, as in two cases -Season 2's Read It And Weep, and the most recent episode Rainbow Falls- she tried to feign being injured. In the former she said her wing was still hurting her and then tried to pass it off by saying her good wing was hurting too. In the latter, she was covered from head to hoof with bandages, and even came in on a wheelchair before saying that she 'hurt her hooves -and wings, practically everything!- because she tripped on a foam hoof and landed on a pokey stick found on the ground.' (This part was mumbled but still a little audible.)

Pinkie chimes in with "Ohhhh, if I get my hooves on that pokey stick found on the ground, it'll be in BIG TROUBLE!"

First Person:

(The Pokégear clicks on to show Rainbow Dash close up with her rainbow-colored hair the only reminder that she's a former Pegasus, but her eyes are closed and her mouth's slightly open. Her Charmander, who she's nicknamed Blaze, is holding up the device to show that Dash has fallen asleep on her journey. The Pokégear moves around a few times as Rainbow Dash wakes up abruptly on the bench, pulling the device out of Blaze's hands while smiling sheepishly.)

Eheh...sorry about that! Guess I won't make that mistake again... Anyway, it's your Friendly Neighborhood Rainbow Dash here, still making my way to the next town while looking for my friends but also some more Pokémon to catch. Having Blaze with me is awesome, but he can't handle everything by himself! I could if trainers were allowed to compete themselves but...

Char!

Ha, sorry Blaze. I don't mean it like that. You could definitely handle anyone we face, but we need some more friends if we're gonna make sure that we win! I think the Ilex Forest is a good place to start looking, and after that we'll get something to eat before getting to the next town. Like that idea, Blaze?

Charmander, char!

That's the spirit! Twilight, Fluttershy-don't leave the city 'cause I'll be there really soon. As Celestia as my witness, we'll see you girls and meet your Pokémon in one day!

Third Person:

Slowest. Partner. EVER!

Rainbow bit back a sigh of annoyance while hovering down to the ground and waiting for her partner to catch up, which was hard when: A, he didn't have wings and 2, he wasn't a fast runner. She didn't blame her Digimon at all for this; she blamed the higher up Digimon or whoever they were for not giving her partner wings in the Rookie level! Or having him small enough for her to carry around.

...Can't really say it's his fault when he was born without wings. It's almost a lesson about friendship the Princess would ask about, but with pets who can shoot fireballs and attack you with their nails! Or claws. she thought with a faint smirk.

"Sorry Rainbow, but when I evolve to my higher forms I'm sure I'll be able to keep up with you!"

"Or you could go on a diet and I'd be able to carry you." Rainbow joked, but her gaze softened after a moment and she patted her Digimon on the head. Having a partner who reminded her a little bit of Tank, even if he wasn't a turtle tortoise? Awesome!

Guess I can put up with a little bit of slowness from him. He's my friend, and Fluttershy would probably say something like 'just show a little patience, and one day I'm sure he'll earn his wings.'

...That sounded WAAAAAAY too sappy, even for me!

Rainbow's expression became one of disbelief while her Digimon laughed at her earlier joke. "Maybe we can train together and that can help me get stronger so I can keep up with you! Aren't you always getting up early to start training?"

"Eh, I don't usually get up to start work until the sun's rose but when it's a good day out and I don't have to go in right away, I wait until mid-day. Still, that sounds like a great plan! You could use a little exercise."

Rainbow laughed loudly along with her Digimon, both Chosen and partner appreciating the nature of a good joke. If Twilight heard this, she'd say something like 'a good friend does what they can to support you, making sure they help you in areas you're weak at while improving on your stronger traits. In the end, you both get stronger by balancing each other out!
